Quantitative Aptitude Ques 881
Question: Directions: In the following questions two equations numbered I and II are given. You have to solve both the equation and given answer. [Bank of Baroda (PO) 2011]
I. $ \sqrt{1225}x+\sqrt{4900}=0 $ II. $ {{(81)}^{\frac{1}{4}}}y+{{(343)}^{\frac{1}{3}}}=0 $
Options:
A) If $ x>y $
B) If $ x\ge y $
C) If $ x<y $
D) If $ x\le y $
E) If $ x=y $ or the relationship cannot be established
Show Answer
Answer:
Correct Answer: A
Solution:
- I. $ \sqrt{1225}x+\sqrt{4900}=0 $
$ \Rightarrow $ $ 35x+70=0 $
$ \Rightarrow $ $ x=-2 $ II. $ {{(81)}^{\frac{1}{4}}}y+{{(343)}^{\frac{1}{3}}}=0 $
$ \Rightarrow $ $ {{(3^{4})}^{\frac{1}{4}}}y+{{(7^{3})}^{\frac{1}{3}}}=0 $
$ \Rightarrow $ $ 3y+7=0 $
$ \Rightarrow $ $ y=-\frac{7}{3} $
$ \therefore $ $ x>y $
