[IBPS (Clerk) 2011]

Options:

A) 9

B) 7

C) 5

D) 6

E) None of these

Show Answer

Answer:

Correct Answer: D

Solution:

  • One day work of 6 women $ =\frac{1}{3} $ One day work of 1 woman $ =\frac{1}{18} $ and one day’s work of 3 women $ =\frac{3}{18}=\frac{1}{6} $

$ \therefore $ One day’s work of 18 children $ =\frac{1}{2}-\frac{1}{6}=\frac{3-1}{6}=\frac{1}{3} $ One day’s work of 1 child $ =\frac{1}{3\times 18}=\frac{1}{54} $ Hence, one day’s work of 9 children $ =\frac{9}{3\times 18}=\frac{1}{6} $ Hence, 9 children will take 6 day’s work to complete the work.
