Quantitative Aptitude Ques 525
Question: A train 110 m long, is running at a speed of $ 60km/h. $ How many seconds does it take to cross another train. 170 m long, standing on parallel track?
Options:
A) 15.6 s
B) 16.8 s
C) 17.2 s
D) 18 s
Show Answer
Answer:
Correct Answer: B
Solution:
- [b] Given, length of first train = 110 m and Length of second train = 170 m Let the time taken to cross each other be t. $ Speed,of,train=\frac{Sum,of,lengthsof,bothtrains}{Time,taken,to,cross,each,other} $
$ \Rightarrow $ $ \frac{60\times 5}{18}=\frac{110+170}{t} $
$ \Rightarrow $ $ \frac{60\times 5}{18}=\frac{280}{t} $
$ \therefore $ $ t=\frac{280\times 18}{60\times 5}=16.8s $
