Correct Answer: D

Solution:

Let the age of the son be x yr. Then, father’s age = 9x and mother’s age = 8x Again, $ 9x+8x=51 $

$ \Rightarrow $ $ 17x=51 $

$ \Rightarrow $ $ x=\frac{51}{17} $

$ \therefore $ $ x=3yr $
