Answer:

Correct Answer: E

Solution:

  • Let the monthly salaries of Pia and Som are 5x and 4x, Money given by Pia to her mother $ =5x\times \frac{3}{5}=3x $ Money given by Pia as sister’s tuition fees = 15% of $ 5x=0.75x $ Money given by Pia towards loan = 18% of $ 5x=0.90x $ Total money spent $ =3x+0.75x+0.90x $ $ =3x+1.65x=4.65x $ Remaining money left with her $ =5x-4.65x=0.35x $
    Given, $ 0.35x=2100 $

$ \Rightarrow $ $ x=\frac{2100}{0.35} $

$ \Rightarrow $ $ x=Rs.,6000 $

$ \therefore $ Monthly salary of Som $ =4x=4\times 6000=Rs.,24000 $
