Solution:

Let the present age of Ravi be $ xyr. $

$ \therefore $ The present age of his father $ =4xyr $ Now, five years back, age of Ravi $ =(x-5)yr $ and age of Ravi’s is father $ =(4x-5)yr $ According to the question, $ (4x-5)=(x-5)\times 7 $

$ \Rightarrow $ $ 4x-5=7x-35 $
$ \Rightarrow $ $ 3x=30 $

$ \therefore $ $ x=10 $ Hence, present age of Ravi’s father = 4x $ =10\times 4=40yr $
