I. $ 3x^{2}-7x+2=0 $
II. $ 2y^{2}-9y+10=0 $

Options:

A) If $ x>y $

B) If $ x<y $

C) If $ x\ge y $

D) If $ x\le y $

E) If relationship between x and y cannot be established

Show Answer

Answer:

Correct Answer: D

Solution:

  • I. $ 3x^{2}-7x+2=0 $

$ \Rightarrow $ $ 3x^{2}-6x-x+2=0 $

$ \Rightarrow $ $ 3x(x-2)-1(x-2)=0 $
$ \Rightarrow $ $ x=2, $ $ 1/3 $ II. $ 2y^{2}-9y+10=0 $

$ \Rightarrow $ $ 2y^{2}-5y-4y+10=0 $

$ \Rightarrow $ $ y(2y-5)-2(2y-5)=0 $
$ \Rightarrow $ $ y=5/2,2 $

$ \therefore $ $ y\ge x $
