Solution:

  • Let intercepts made by line be a. Equation of line is $ \frac{x}{a}+\frac{y}{a}=1 $

$ \Rightarrow $ $ x+y=a $ … (i) But this line passes through (4, 5).

$ \therefore $ $ 4+5=a $
$ \Rightarrow $ $ a=9 $ On putting this value in Eq. (i), we get $ x+y=9 $
