$ \Rightarrow $ $ x=\frac{1049\times 100}{23}\approx 4560 $

$ \therefore $ Total students $ =4560 $ Percentage of engineering students $ =9% $

$ \therefore $ Total number of engineering students $ =9\times \frac{4560}{100}\approx 410 $
