$ \therefore $ Amount collected from the first class passengers $ =\frac{a}{a+b}\times 11000 $ where, $ a=4 $ and $ b=40 $ $ =\frac{4}{4+40}\times 11000=\frac{4\times 11000}{44}=Rs\text{. 1000} $
