  • Here, $ A(-6,8)=A(x _1,y _1) $ and $ B(4,-8)=B(x _2,y _2) $

$ \therefore $ $ x _1=-6, $ $ y _1=8, $ $ x _2=4 $ and $ y _2=-8 $

$ \therefore $ Required distance, $ AB=\sqrt{{{(x _2-x _1)}^{2}}+{{(y _2-y _1)}^{2}}} $ $ =\sqrt{{{(4+6)}^{2}}+{{(-16)}^{2}}}=\sqrt{100+256} $ $ =\sqrt{356}=18.86units $
